Like many people.. traveling brings about my sense of adventure. Most of my trips this summer have been for fun and recreation..but, there was one trip that I took - with intention and purpose. A group of us boarded a plane and left what was familiar and headed to West Asia. For some of us the stretching came with the courage to travel with kids... and brave all the annoyances that come with leaving on a jet plane..For me the stretching occurred when I flew away from my husband and kids - knowing I'd be on this trip without them. I knew I was supposed to go.. but, even then I had to choke back the tears and suck it up.. believing I was supposed to be going.
I've been to many islands...and sailed on several deep blue seas...but, no other island has caught my attention and captured my heart so quickly as Cyprus. I think part of the reason is because I experienced the culture and lived among its people for 14 days. Another reason is because I experienced God's presence while there. Learning the discipline of solitude - - has been monumental for me. How can God speak to me in all the noise and chaos that has become my life? Since being home - I've missed it so much and there is a longing to go back - SOMEDAY.
I hope your summer travels have been full of life, good food, good people and great conversation. . as well. I've been in the studio working on a special piece in honor of my travel to Cyprus this summer.. Can't wait to show you next week!

Occasionally, I feel that I need to be reminded of what I am thankful for.
It's easy to focus on the negative attitudes that permeate this world. It's easy to fall into the bad habit of forgetting who and what we should be grateful for. Life happens. Bad things happen. Hurt happens. We all have gone through things that have tried our faith. People leave. Hearts get broken all the time. But even in the midst of difficulty we have so much to be GRATEFUL for. There are many times I'm so distracted by the demands of life and sometimes I just can't seem to see past all the "stuff"... This piece is my little reminder.
I'm wondering: WHAT ARE YOU GRATEFUL FOR TODAY?
Title: GRATITUDE - available NOW - in my etsy shop.
